Brasilien-Austausch, Teil 3

Nachricht 18. Juni 2026

Today, we went to school in the morning and then traveled to the city of Hanover.

Our first stop was the Göttingen Seven Monument, created by Floriano Bodini in 1998. The monument honors seven professors from the University of Göttingen who defended democratic principles in 1837 after protesting against the repeal of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Hanover. Among them was the famous mathematician Carl Friedrich Gauss.

Next, we visited the area around Hanover’s New Town Hall. We saw the Archer sculpture, which symbolizes the vigilance of citizens over public officials, and explored the town hall, built between 1901 and 1913.

Inside, we viewed four scale models showing Hanover’s development through different historical periods. We also took the inclined elevator to the top of the dome, where we enjoyed a panoramic view of the city.

After that, we visited Lake Maschsee, an artificial lake inaugurated in 1936. During World War II, parts of it were camouflaged to avoid detection by enemy aircraft. Today, it is a popular recreational area and hosts the annual Maschseefest festival.

Der Schüleraustausch wurde durch die Niedersächsische Bingo-Umweltstifung und die Ev.-Luth. Landeskirche Hannovers gefördert. Vielen Dank!
